I started my PhD candidature with the Living with Disability Research Centre at La Trobe University in February 2019. I want to look into ideas and methods that will assist disability self-advocacy groups to work as coaches and educators for workers within disability and mainstream services to help them build positive regard and inclusion for people with intellectual disability.
Before commencing my PhD I completed a Master of Social Work (Qualifying) with Flinders University (SA) in 2017. During my final student placement with Disability Client Services at the Department of Health and Human Services (Vic), I had the pleasure of working with the New Wave Gippsland Self Advocacy Group. I was inspired by the work they do to promote inclusion not just for themselves but for each other and for all people with intellectual disability.
